Doing my part

Wednesday, 13 June, 2012 Leave a comment

I’ve decided that by deferring retirement to at least the age of 74 I am doing my part to help out the economy. I will not be collecting Social Security, nor will I be consuming Medicare resources. This is not, though, an altruistic action, of course, as I’m doing this mostly out of necessity. But, facts are facts.

I suspect that a great many people in my age group are doing the same thing. So, silently, and as a consequence of the current tanking economy, many seniors are doing their part to help out.

A Sad State of affairs

Thursday, 3 May, 2012 3 comments

I feel the same way.

I was thinking the same thing. The country is really in a depressingly sad place now. There seems to be a great divide between those who can see that Obama is a narcissistic fraud and those who cannot perceive that at all. And I cannot, for the life of me, understand it.

The Love of my life is ME!

Barak Obama is a narcissist.

This has long been my opinion of him. It should come as a surprise to no one, of course. All you really need to do is to listen to him speak, listen to his word choice, listen to what he says, look at him, and watch what he actually does. He is a compulsive liar, IMHO. And I am not being cute or funny about this. He is an extremely dangerous person, principally because he hasn’t an ounce of honor or morality. Again, in my opinion. He will do or say ANYTHING as long as it advances his cause: himself. He has, however, beguiled many people with his cult of personality. See what he says [note his constant use of the first person - all things are done by him and said by him]. See what he does. See how he constantly creates divisions between groups, thus allowing himself to reside between them.

Do we really need this guy running our country [in to the ground]?

Buying Votes with Volts

From Weasel Zippers:

http://weaselzippers.us/2012/02/13/obama-plans-to-hike-taxpayer-funded-subsidy-on-each-chevy-volt-from-7500-to-10000/

That’s $10,000 of our tax dollars given to anyone interested in purchasing a Chevy Volt, up from $7,500 last year. You know, even bribery is getting expensive nowadays. Meanwhile Coal-power energy plants are being forced closed by EPA mandates, the Keystone pipeline project is now a pipe dream, and Solyndra is swiping $500 million of our dollars. This president’s energy policy consists of bankrupting the country to fund unprofitable ‘green’ energy projects.Because it works to his base. He has no interest in allowing free markets to honestly compete. The United States has the largest amount of available fossil fuels in the entire world. Only Russia even comes close. And yet environmentalists and progressives are feverishly working destroy our economy. And now he wants to give his friends $10,000 if only they will buy a Volt. The only morality this man understand is re-election. Our country cannot endure another four years of this man.

Reincarnation?

Thursday, 9 February, 2012 1 comment

Reincarnation? Each instant in our lives is reincarnation. And this instant is the only one that exists or matters at all. How did I get here, and where shall I go? These are irrelevant questions. The essential question is, ‘what shall I do now?’ Only you can decide. The whole of our life is a reservoir of incarnations from which we draw our own unique answer.

This is Ego

To whomever God we pray that is the God to whom we shall go.

We are not punished for our sins. We are punished by them.

This is Karma

Prop 8 Overturned by the Ninth District Court [surprise, surprise]

Wednesday, 8 February, 2012 1 comment

So here we have the Ninth District [Federal] Court deciding that California’s constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, one that was voted for by the majority of voters in the state of California, is unconstitutional. And on what grounds?

 Says Judge Reinhardt:

“All that Proposition 8 accomplished was to take away from same-sex couples the right to be granted marriage licenses and thus legally to use the designation ‘marriage,’ ” the judge wrote, adding, “Proposition 8 serves no purpose, and has no effect, other than to lessen the status and human dignity of gay men and lesbians in California.”

 He also says:

Although the Constitution permits communities to enact most laws they believe to be desirable, it requires that there be at least a legitimate reason for the passage of a law that treats different classes of people differently,”

He is saying here that this is not a Constitutional matter but, rather, a ‘judgment’ call. A Federal Judge is making a judgment call about the legitimacy of a law that was passed, by state constitutional amendment, by its’ citizenry. He has trumped the judgment and will of the citizens of the state of California on the basis of his own moral belief, not on the basis of law. His morality trumps those of the citizens making the law.

The citizenry have a right and obligation to define the civil society according to their own beliefs about how it will most benefit them. No federal law is broken here. Thus, no federal intervention permitted. This is the real beauty of our federation. Each state may enact laws and govern in a manner of their choosing, within the common boundary of the federal laws. And citizens are able to freely choose which of these states most benefits them.

Marriage is a civil matter. Even, perhaps, a religious matter. It is not a Constitutional right. The ‘legality’ of same-sex marriage, therefore, is a states-rights civil matter, not a federal matter at all. If the citizens of 37 states agree that same-sex marriage is a ‘right’ then they may try to amend the constitution. Until then….
